Both FBIS and BBC M SWB are OSINT (Open-Source INTelligence) sources. Both these sources act as important foundational records of world history with first-hand, real-time coverage of 20th-century people, places, and global events. It is an essential acquisition for academic libraries that support researchers in a wide variety of disciplines, including history, political science, government, economics, social and cultural studies, and international studies. Think of these as providing the very first ”˜draft’ of history from where the history that we know (or written), was derived from. FBIS was from the predecessor to the CIA (USA), and the BBC M SWB was British. Open-Source Intelligence around the world from 1939 – 2001 is covered by these 2 complementary resources.
