UP System Guide to Open Access Publishing

In 2025, University of the Philippines System has entered into an open access publishing agreement with Cambridge Core.

To recall, we wrote a blog post on journal article publishing without APCs (article publishing fee) last year. Back then the prospect of open access publishing for UP authors was not very bright as we did not have a ‘transformative agreement’ with the publishers, so the authors had to pay for the APCs on their own which made open access publishing less attractive.

The Cambridge transformative agreement enables authors who are affiliated with the UP System with an opportunity to publish their articles as open access in gold and hybrid journals.
