| UP System Enjoys Access to Science Direct Freedom Collection via Philippine eLib | |

The University of the Philippines System has now access to the Science Direct Freedom Collection via the Philippine eLib. Science Direct Freedom Collection is the world's largest electronic collection of science, technology and medicine full text and bibliographic information. It contains over 25% of the world's science, technology and medicine full text and bibliographic information. In addition to the Physical Sciences and Engineering collections, UP students, faculty members, REPS and administrative staff can now search and download full-text articles from 2,500 journal titles in the Arts and Humanities; Business, Management and Accounting; Decision Sciences; Economics, Econometrics and Finance; Psychology; Social Sciences; Health Sciences; Agricultural and Biological Sciences; Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology; Environmental Science; Immunology and Microbiology; and Neuroscience. Freedom Collection coverage is from 1995 to current. The University also has access to the back issues (published before 1995) of the following collections: Chemical Engineering; Energy and Power; Environmental Science; Inorganic Chemistry; Mathematics; Social Science; Forensic Medicine, Pathology & Medical Technology; Orthopedics, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation; and Public Health & Health Policy. Access to the Science Direct Freedom Collection is IP-based only and is therefore limited to users accessing from within any of the University's Constituent units using computers connected to its network. | Research Made Easy @ Your Library : A Library Orientation Program (Humanities Edition) | |

The said library orientation was specifically developed for faculty members of the University. It aims to: 1) familiarize UP faculty members with the new library facilities, programs, collections and services; 2) acquaint them with easy access and use of the online subscriptions; and, 3) update them with the new features of the UP University Library website and Integrated Library System (iLib). There is also an ongoing book exhibit at the lobby of CAL Library from 29 June to 2 July 2010. |

The University Library invites the faculty members of the College of Arts and Letters (CAL), College of Architecture (CA), College of Fine Arts (CFA), College of Mass Communication (CMC) and College of Music to a library orientation on the use of online subscriptions dubbed as Research Made Easy @ Your Library which will be held today, 29 June 2010 at the CAL Library, 4:00 - 6:00 pm.
