American Economic Review

The American Economic Review (AER) is a general-interest economics journal. Established in 1911, the AER is among the nation’s oldest and most respected scholarly journals in economics. The journal publishes 12 issues per year containing articles on a broad range of topics.

American Economic Review: Insights

The American Economic Review: Insights is a general-interest economics journal publishing papers of the same quality as those in the American Economic Review but devoted to papers with important insights that can be conveyed succinctly. The journal publishes four issues per year containing articles on a broad range of topics.

Journal of Economic Literature

The Journal of Economic Literature, first published in 1969, is designed to help economists keep abreast of the vast flow of literature. The journal publishes four issues per year containing commissioned, peer-reviewed analytic guides to bodies of work, as well as review essays, book reviews, an annotated bibliography of new books classified by subject matter, and an annual index of dissertations from North American universities.

Journal of Economic Perspectives

The Journal of Economic Perspectives, first published in 1987, aims to bridge the gap between the general interest business and financial press and standard academic journals of economics. The journal publishes four issues per year, which are publicly accessible at no charge, compliments of the American Economic Association.

American Economic Journal: Applied Economics

American Economic Journal: Applied Economics covers a range of topics in applied economics, with a focus on empirical microeconomic issues. Subject areas include labor economics, development microeconomics, health, education, demography, empirical corporate finance, empirical studies of trade, and empirical behavioral economics. The journal publishes four issues per year.

American Economic Journal: Economic Policy

American Economic Journal: Economic Policy covers a range of topics, the common theme being the role of economic policy in economic outcomes. Subject areas include public economics; urban and regional economics; public policy aspects of health, education, welfare and political institutions; law and economics; economic regulation; and environmental and natural resource economics. The journal publishes four issues per year.

American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics

American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics focuses on studies of aggregate fluctuations and growth and the role of policy in that context. Such studies often borrow from and interact with research in other fields, such as monetary theory, industrial organization, finance, labor economics, political economy, public finance, international economics, and development economics. To the extent that they make a contribution to macroeconomics, papers in these fields are also welcome. The journal publishes four issues per year.

American Economic Journal: Microeconomics

American Economic Journal: Microeconomics focuses on microeconomic theory; industrial organization; and the microeconomic aspects of international trade, political economy, and finance. The journal publishes theoretical work as well as both empirical and experimental work with a theoretical framework. The journal publishes four issues per year.

AEA Papers and Proceedings

AEA Papers and Proceedings publishes selected papers presented at the AEA sessions of the ASSA Annual Meeting, as well as minutes and reports from the AEA proceedings. In 2018, the Association began publishing the AEA Papers and Proceedings as a standalone title; from 1911 through 2017, the papers and proceedings were published annually as a special issue of the American Economic Review.
