How to Navigate the Library Website?

Hello and Welcome to Learning is Easy @ Your Library.

Mabuhay! This video will dissect the features, menus, and content of the University Library website.

This video is brought to you by your friendly Reference Librarians at the Information Services and Instruction Section, UP Diliman University Library.

The official web portal of the University Library Diliman

The official web portal of the University Library Diliman at https://mainlib.upd.edu.ph boasts a responsive web design, meaning web pages will look awesome on all devices—computers, smartphones, and tablets.

On the homepage, you will find the following: a post carousel providing the latest news about the library; links to the most sought library e-resources, services, and guides; our Twitter and Instagram feeds; and the newest feature – Saliktroniko.

Saliktroniko

Let us turn our attention to the Saliktroniko. This will help you find the most relevant results to your search query in the simplest and easiest way. Choose among the Saliktroniko tabs: Tuklas, Databases, Journals, and this Website, that will likely generate relevant search results about your query. Another video guide is made to navigate Saliktroniko and Tuklas.

Next, all pages on the University Library website have the following elements: the navigation menu on the header, Ask-A-Librarian widget via Facebook Messenger on the bottom right, and our contact details and related links at the footer.

Atop, the navigation menu consists of About, Policies, Request, Search and Inquire.

About submenu

Under About, you will learn about the mandate, functions, vision, mission, core values, goals, history, and statistical profile of the University Library. Contact details of the Main Library divisions and sections and college/unit libraries in UP Diliman can also be found in this menu. Lastly, a link to donation procedures is located here.

Policies submenu

Under Policies are our Citizen’s Charter, Rules and Regulations, and policies on the COVID-19 Pandemic, Cataloging, Intellectual Property, and the Ask-A-Librarian service.

Request submenu

Want to know how to request a 1-on-1 video call DROID, how to request book chapters, journal articles, microfilm scans, or library orientation? Head on to the Request menu. Take note that only faculty members may request library orientation.

Search submenu

Know the library collections on the Search menu. Links to local databases such as Tuklas Discovery Service, Digital Archives, Index to Philippine Periodicals Online, and Open Access Repository can be found here. Moreover, the list of over 60 subscribed e-Resources, thousands of eBook titles, and Open Access databases can be accessed through this menu.

Inquire submenu

Need help? Head on to the Inquire menu. Here, you can read how to contact your friendly Reference Librarians through ASK SINAG, instructions on remote access to subscribed e-resources via OpenAthens, and our blog posts. Moreover, you can watch or listen to our library guides and how-to’s and get to know more about  our library services through this menu.

Ask-A-Librarian Widget

Besides the navigation menu, there is an omnipresent Messenger widget on the bottom right of the website. Using the Messenger widget, sign in to your Facebook, Messenger, or Instagram account, and ask us away! Be mindful though, as we answer inquiries only during office hours, that is, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Finally, let us go to the footer. Here, you can see the address and contact details of the UP Diliman Main Library. Moreover, links to UP Diliman websites, UP Repositories, and websites of other UP University Libraries can be found here. Lastly, there are two fields, the first one is where you can search the website, while the other one  allows you to browse our website posts by category.
